Turning water data into everyday decisions

We believe that access to water quality data helps communities better understand and respond to environmental risks.

Over a decade of trusted, community-driven water data

“Is it clean” is an initiative by the Connecticut River Conservancy, providing real-time insights into bacteria levels at recreation sites across the Connecticut River watershed. By connecting local organizations, trained volunteers, and a central lab, we help people interpret complex data and make their own choices about when to enjoy the river.

In 2007, CRC launched a volunteer water quality monitoring program. In 2009, our lab opened — now serving over 80 locations across four states. Our mission hasn’t changed: equip communities with the tools and data to understand their rivers. We continue to grow through collaboration, transparency, and science.
